Original Text: Chapter 1

The great Byzantine Empire has played an important role in history for long centuries as a political and war force, and because it had a civilization and culture position until the end of the 11th century C.E the Empire was an important centre for the Christians culture. Besides, the Byzantine Empire is one that carried the flame of human civilization in the middle ages in Europe. There is no doubt that the Byzantine Empire had protected Europe in the Middle Ages form the Islamic Conquests in both 7th and 8th century A.D.
If the Byzantine Empire had fallen before the Arabs conquests, the Islam would have prevailed in all of Europe, all of the Slavic people and everyone of middle Europe would have embraced Islam religion, and the countries located in the north of the Mediterranean Sea would have taken the Arabic Muslim mode like those countries located in the south and east of that Sea. In addition, those following consequences and cultural and civilization impacts that made the Byzantine Empire took a high position in history which is different from the position of other empires that rose in history eras. The importance of this Empire is not due to its wide geography range that included the cradles of the most ancient cultures that human being knew, but it is importance is to be referred basically to that the Empire had risen historically in the end of the ancient world. The Empire rose in the 3rd century B.C. and stood until the 15th century C.E in the east of Europe. But its importance is due mainly to have occurred historically at the end of the ancient world.

Revised Text:

The great Byzantine Empire played an important role in history for long centuries as a political and war force. Because it had a civilization and cultural position until the end of the 11th century C.E., the Empire was an important centre of Christian culture. The Byzantine Empire carried the flame of human civilization in the middle ages in Europe. There is no doubt that the Byzantine Empire protected Europe in the Middle Ages form the Islamic Conquests in the 7th and 8th centuries A.D.

If the Byzantine Empire had fallen before the Arabs conquests, Islam would have prevailed in all of Europe. All of the Slavic peoples and everyone of middle Europe would have embraced the Islam religion, and the countries located to the north of the Mediterranean Sea would have taken the Arabic Muslim mode like those countries located to the south and east of that Sea. The consequences are the cultural and civilization impacts that gave the Byzantine Empire a high position in history, different from the positions of other empires that rose in historic eras.

The Empire arose in the 3rd century B.C. and stood until the 15th century C.E, in the east of Europe. The importance of this Empire is not due to its wide geographical range, that included the cradles of the most ancient human cultures, but as the Empire that had risen at the end of the ancient world.
