Original Text: Spotlight Activity

My sisters and I went Christmas Caroling for my spotlight project. We went to Hartland Terrace, a nursing home close to where I live. We went the day after winter vacation started (December 23rd). I chose to do this because I know that my grandma gets really isolated when she does not have company for a while. I also chose to do this because I really like to sing and I wanted to get people in the Christmas spirit because it is my favorite holiday. To prepare, I got the lyrics to the Carols that we wanted to sing and found my favorite Santa hat. Hartland Terrace was a very pleasant place, but also depressing. One of the elderly women had her birthday on that day, and nobody had come to visit her. It made me think that they appreciated my sisters and I singing for them because it seemed like they didn’t get much company. Overall, I liked the experience and loved the feeling I got making people feel significant.
